How to Leverage Twitter for Real Estate

It's easy to feel a bit overwhelmed the first time you dip your toes in the deep end of the Twitter pool, because Twitter holds a unique place among the major social networks. There are so many conversations happening all it once, and Twitter users love digging deep into their favorite topics with like-minded people. For real estate agents, Twitter provides one of the best forums to engage your audience, build relationships, and ultimately earn new clients for your real estate business. Getting started may be a bit intimidating, but you'll be tweeting like a pro in no time.

Twitter Tactics: How to Leverage Twitter for Your Real Estate Business

Getting your profile page in order is a crucial first step, so it's worth taking some time to decide how you wish to present your real estate brand. You'll want to include all of the relevant business details so clients can find you, but it's also a very good idea to add some personality to your profile page.

  • Profile Picture – People will be seeing your profile picture a lot, so be sure to pick an image that shows you (or your business) in your best light. Adding a good head-shot will make your audience more likely to engage, and your cover photo is a great place to show off your brand markings, business location, or real estate team.

  • Bio – Again, you'll want to tell people about your real estate chops, but it's also a good idea to let them know a bit about yourself in order to increase engagement. Do you support any local organizations, participate in a city sports league, or volunteer in your free time? This is the sort of stuff that will help you connect with your audience.

Once your Twitter profile is in order, it's time to start showing off your expertise and building relationships with your social media connections. That will require a steady supply of tweets, and some great content to share.

  • Tweeting – Interaction on Twitter is quite similar to what you'll find on other social networks, but it feels a bit more chaotic in real-time in part because Twitter posts are limited to 140 characters. You can post public messages, interact with specific users, and send private messages. Look for opportunities to provide real estate advice, touch on local topics, and even tell the audience a little bit about yourself. It's also a good idea to keep an eye on trending topics, and touch on the real estate topics people talk about most.

  • Content – Twitter is also an excellent place to share links, so it's a good idea to keep your blog posts, real estate photos, and how-to videos close at hand. Tweets with images included tend to get more engagement, so look for opportunities to tie in images with any content you share.

  • Engagement – All of your hard work on Twitter leads to this moment, because engagement is what makes or breaks your social media success. Rather than laying on the full-court press sales pitch right away, focus on building rapport, finding common ground, and providing valuable advice. Be authentic, be helpful, and eventually you'll be generating plenty of very well-qualified leads from your Twitter account.

Finding your voice on Twitter takes practice, so don't feel like you have to get everything perfect all at once. There is also plenty of help available, whether you're new or experienced with real estate social media. Contact Delta Media Group to learn more about Twitter for real estate, and all of our real estate marketing services.
