Real Estate Social Media Tips

Buying or selling a home (or both!) is a very personal experience for your clients, so social media is a great place to connect. The key to success for social media engagement is making it more than just a box to check off on your marketing to-do list. Your best results will come from direct, real interactions, and from sharing content, video, and photos that show off the best that your real estate business has to offer. Social media platforms provide an easy way to connect with current clients, and plenty of opportunities to generate new business.

Marketing Tips for Real Estate Agents: Making the Most of Your Social Media Time

The first tip, and maybe the most important, is just to be present. You don't need to spend all day checking your notifications, but it's important to respond when someone reaches out to you, posts a public comment, or comments on content that you've shared. Just as when you're meeting a client in person, being accountable for the little details is one of the best ways to show you'll do the same for the big details down the line.

  • When you're interacting on a social platform, try to add a personal touch to show that you're not just cutting and pasting a form message. Even just addressing the client or prospect by name shows that you're paying attention, and will respond to their needs.

  • Try to set aside a block of time each day to maintain your various social accounts. It's much easier to respond thoughtfully and post interesting content when you're focused specifically on the task, with minimal distraction.

  • Be yourself, and don't be afraid to show some personality. If you live in the same area where you buy and sell homes, talking about your community is a great way to engage on a personal level.

  • Listen, and ask questions. The two go hand-in-hand. Too many real estate social media accounts operate like "no-reply" email addresses. Engagement is a two-way street, and your connections will respond if you show that you're paying attention.

  • Blog posts are great, but don't miss the chance to share photo and video content, as well. In addition to showing off your best properties, this type of content is the perfect way to give clients a window into your company culture – and show why that culture is the right fit for their needs.

  • Quality before quantity. Building up a large audience is a fine goal, but only if that audience is actually paying attention. Your network will grow naturally as you engage, share interesting content, and seek out people who are interested in what you have to offer.

  • Your content doesn't have to be limited to homes and properties, so anything related to real estate is fair game. Provide moving tips, shopping advice, and tips for improving home values. Be creative, and look for opportunities to connect real estate with everyday life.

Outside of being responsive, engaging, and interesting, persistence is the big key to social media success. If you're willing to devote a relatively small but consistent amount of time to social media each day, it can quickly grow into one of your most effective real estate marketing tools. The trick is sticking with it. To learn more about how to grow your real estate social media presence, contact the experienced team at Delta Media Group.
