When it comes to choosing a home, millennial buyers are actually looking for many of the same things as shoppers from any other generation. The big difference comes in what millennials expect from the home shopping process, and how they prefer to connect with their REALTOR®. Snapchat has been around for a few years now, and that staying power has businesses searching for ways to take advantage of the popular social platform.

As it turns out, Snapchat is actually a natural fit for real estate social media marketing... if you know how to use it effectively. The team at Delta Media Group knows Snapchat, and we've got a few proven tips to help you get started.

Marketing for Millennials: Using Snapchat to Grow Your Real Estate Business

Before we dive in, a quick refresher on what Snapchat is all about, and why it's grown so popular. Snapchat is essentially a social tool for sharing photo and video content, and each message is called a Snap. The twist is that Snaps shared on Snapchat disappear after a set period of time, which can be as short as one second and as long as 24 hours. By limiting the time that an image can be viewed, Snapchat ensures that you have the undivided attention of your followers.

  • Snapchat is perfect for social media marketing for real estate because it is a very visual medium. You can add text and special effects to each Snap, but in the end it is all presented as an image or video.

  • Snaps sent privately typically disappear after one to 10 seconds of viewing, but you can also choose to create a "story," or collection of Snaps, that can be viewed by your followers for 24 hours.

  • As a real estate agent, you want to connect buyers with the listings that are most appealing to their needs. Snapchat allows you to send pictures and video of properties easily, without clogging the recipients email inbox or cloud storage.

  • Snapchat is also a great place to share real estate tips and advice with your followers. If you produce blog content with tips for improving home values, renovation ideas, or smart tech solutions, create a few Snaps to show your tips in action.

  • Snapchat also offers a video chat feature, which can be used to communicate with your millennial clients. While video chat isn't quite as popular as the main feature of sending and receiving Snaps, it's still a valuable communication tool for millennials.

  • The most important thing you can do on Snapchat? Be authentic. It's easy to forget about the social aspect of social media, but connecting with followers on a genuine level is what it's all about. Don't be afraid to be yourself.

  • Sharing photos and videos of homes will be a big part of your Snapchat to-do list, but you'll also want to mix things up to keep your audience invested. Share Snaps about your city, special events, and local businesses to show that you're invested in your community.

As with any social channel, building up a real audience of interested followers takes time, but don't let that discourage you. You'll have time to experiment, interact, and find the tactics that best suit your millennial audience as you grow your Snapchat presence. Be authentic, be yourself, and contact the team at Delta Media Group if you really want to learn how to use social media like a pro.
