How to Use Social Media to Find New Real Estate Agents

You already know that social media is a great place to promote your real estate business to clients, but did you know that it's also an excellent recruiting tool for finding talented new real estate agents to join your team? Real estate is a very social-friendly industry, and today most agents will have a presence on all of the major social sites. You can learn so much about a potential hire by visiting their social pages before an interview, and you can even use social sites like LinkedIn to recruit new agents directly. Now is the time to take a closer look at social media for real estate, and how it can be used to attract new talent for your real estate team.

Simple Social Hiring: How to Use Social Media to Recruit Real Estate Talent

The first step to finding new agents through social media is making sure that your real estate brand has a presence on major social sites like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. You'll be using social media in part to learn about potential hires and they'll be doing the same to learn about your real estate business, so you want to make sure that they like what they see. Once your own social pages are good to go, you'll be ready to dive into the fun stuff:

  • Listen and Learn – One of the biggest benefits of social media for hiring is the way that it allows you to learn about an agent before sitting down for an interview or otherwise engaging directly. Take the opportunity to visit the social pages of potential recruits, search for common ground, and see what makes them tick so that you'll be ready to engage on a meaningful level when the time is right. You can also use your social research to filter out candidates who are less than an ideal fit for your business.

  • Common Connections – When you're searching for new candidates, keep an eye out for people with mutual friends, acquaintances, or colleagues. Finding common connections is a great icebreaker for conversations, and it gives you one more tool to learn about the agent.

  • Engage and Attract – The learning process will provide fertile ground for conversation, and help you decide who's worth talking to in the first place. One of the biggest benefits of social is that there are so many easy ways to engage once you settle on your targets. The most important thing is to have a plan in place for how you want to approach each agent, based on your research. Just as with clients, doing your homework is what allows you to make your pitch with confidence.

  • Leverage LinkedIn – While you'll find real estate agents on every social media site, there's no substitute for LinkedIn when it comes to attracting new agents. LinkedIn is a great recruiting tool because it was built largely for that purpose. It's the site agents come to when they want to learn about the industry, connect with other professionals, and look for new opportunities. Make sure that you have an active presence on LinkedIn, and that it's one of your first stops whenever you're recruiting new agents.

Whether you're hiring new talent, attracting new clients, or simply looking to boost the visibility of your real estate brand, social media is one of the most powerful tools in your marketing arsenal. Contact Delta Media Group to learn more about using social media in the real estate industry, online marketing, and the many tools we use to help grow your real estate brand.
