How to Spring Clean Your Real Estate Website

Even the best website is a work in progress. To be effective in real estate, a website needs to reflect the latest trends. Recent information on the market and how it may affect customers is essential. Leads will trust your expertise only if they see your website is helpful, informative, and up to date. However, even updating your site regularly won't do the job on its own.

Sometimes, it's a good idea to take a step back and look at the big picture. Since running a real estate website is a learning experience, you'll sometimes want to question old ways of doing things that have become "baked in" to your process. If you review your site and make tweaks, you'll ensure your online presence always reflects your brand. Spring is as good a time as any to sit down and invest the time you'll need!

Here's how you can do it in an efficient and worthwhile way:

  1. Add New Neighborhood Profiles
To make an impression as a real estate agent, you must be seen as a true local. Adding content about area neighborhoods to your site helps you attract search engine traffic related to your service zone. Be sure you include detailed insights into nearby amenities and what makes each location special. Each piece of content should be at least 400-500 words and use related search engine keywords you wish to rank for.

  2. Update Your "About Me" Page
Your business changes and grows over time, and so do you. Your "About Me" page needs to stand as a compelling personal bio that inspires visitors to reach out. The best way is to connect your experiences with the goals and dreams of your ideal clients. Don't waste time with a dry listing of your skills—talk about your clients' needs, then how you can meet them better than anyone.

  3. Implement Website Analytics
Analytics is a fancy term for a program that helps you decipher where your web traffic is coming from and what people do on your site once they get there. This will help you learn which content you've developed is getting attention, both on your website and off. For example, it can show you if your Twitter posts are bringing people to your site. Google Analytics is a good free option.

  4. Add Any New Testimonials
Testimonials are an incredibly important part of your online marketing. They are unique social proof that demonstrates to future customers that others "just like them" have had success with your business. Integrate a process for requesting new testimonials from thrilled home buyers shortly after closing day and be sure to showcase them prominently on your website.

Your website is one of the most valuable parts of your marketing mix. Unlike advertising, which has limited impact that diminishes when you stop investing, your site can draw more and more leads to your business over time. To ensure it does so, continue creating great blog posts, FAQs, and real estate topic guides—and keep updating your site to communicate your very best self over time.
