This week, Harley goes over market updates in the DeltaNET.

Video Transcription

Harley:

Hello and welcome to another edition of Tech Tuesday presented by Delta Media Group, where we once heard a story about a horse that walked into a bar and had a couple of drinks and then the bartender walked up and asked if he'd like to have another. The horse said, "I think not," and then disappeared into thin air.

Harley:

Well, of course that's a play on a statement it by the famous philosopher René Descartes that says, "I think, therefore I am." Now I could have explained that before telling the story about the horse, but that would've been putting Descartes before the horse. Sorry. I can't help myself.

Harley:

All right. So, today we'll take a look at functionality in the DeltaNet that allows you not only to very quickly and easily see recent listing updates or updates over a time period that you define, but it allows you to configure the system to automatically notify you of those updates so that you don't even have to go in and look.

Harley:

So, to get to it, we're going to go down here to listings and then click on market update. Now, some other ways to get to this feature is I could have just clicked on listings. In this case, now this navigation is customizable per company so you may or may not have a tile here that will lead you to that market update functionality. But then also with everything in DeltaNet 6, I can just type market update up here in the quick actions bar and you can see it comes up in my results here as well.

Harley:

So market update, and that takes me through to the same page. So once here I can define a date range up here at the top, and this date range will determine what listing updates I see. So, basically I'll see everything that is new to market, price reductions, or off market that took place during the time range that I define here. So, we'll go ahead and move this out a little bit. You can see that I'll just select my start date and I can put that wherever I'd like. Select my end date and I can put that wherever I'd like up to the current date, and then click update. And now I get all the listing updates that took place over that time period.

Harley:

Now, which listings it shows me and which listings would be included in the report if I'm getting emailed that report are controlled by the settings button. So, we'll just click here on settings and you can see it gives me a quick description of what those settings are actually set to do. But we'll click on settings. And then from here I can determine, do I want to see this report weekly or daily? Well, actually first and foremost, do I want to get this report at all?

Harley:

So, if this is turned off, that means that this page will work. I can come to this page anytime I'd like, but I won't get an email update for these. If I switch this on, then I'll receive an update email, on whatever interval I choose or whatever day I choose, that shows me the listings based on the area I have defined here.

Harley:

So, the next option I have here is my interval, which right now is set to weekly. And if it is set to weekly, I can choose what day of the week I'd like to receive it. I can switch that over to daily if I'd like, and then I'll actually get this update every day. Next I can determine whether or not I want to look at just company listings. Now, if I don't have any zip codes defined in order to narrow down the number of listings I see, because I would get a whole lot of updates if it didn't narrow it down at all. But if I don't have any zip codes defined, it'll show me only company listings by default. So, if I do continue to want to see only company listings in this report, even after I specified some zip codes, then I can just check this box.

Harley:

Next I can decide whether or not I want to see listings that have got dropped off the market. If I'm not interested in those, I can just uncheck that box. And then next, if I have any custom fields. So, if my company has any custom fields attached to any of my listings, and this will be kind of a rarity here, but if there are any fields like that available, then I can choose to include those fields or not. Next I can define what zip codes I want to see if I do want to narrow those down. So again, if I choose not to narrow them down, it'll just show me all company listings. However, if I narrow them down and uncheck this box, then I'll see updates on all the listings in any of the zip codes I specify. So, to add zip codes here, I'll just type in a zip code and click add and I'll just punch it a few in here so you get the general idea. You can see a theme going on.

Harley:

So, that's how I can add zip codes in. I can also import zip codes. So, if I want to pull the zip codes and you can see it says right here in the little tool tip, import zip codes from your leads and contact setting. So, it's a nice convenience feature there basically in your leads settings, if you are defining which zip codes you want to cover and you want to just import all those zip codes, you can just click this button and you can see it drops in another zip code here. So, it just pulls those in as a shortcut so that I can very quickly add all the zip codes that I've already defined as my coverage area. Next, if I want to remove any of these zip codes, I can just click on it and click remove selected. Or if I want to remove them all, remove all.

Harley:

So it's as simple as that. Now, once I've configured this, if I have this switched on, I can save my settings and then the system will start automatically emailing me either once a week or once every day, based on what I defined, with all the listings that have come on the market in the areas I've defined, so, either company listings or within this zip codes I have defined, all price reductions, and all off market listings.

Harley:

Now if it's daily, I'm going to see all updates from the previous day. Weekly, I'm going to see all updates from the previous week, but then whenever I want, I can go back to this page and I can just define whatever date range I'd like to see all those updates as well. So, there you go. A short one today, but still an important feature and a good time saver for you if you want to go in and just quickly see listings that have been either added to the market, have seen a price reduction or dropped off the market over a specific time period.

Harley:
