Someone on your team probably came across a pitch recently: switch website providers, save $20,000 or $30,000 a year, done deal. It's an easy number to like. Nobody enjoys writing a bigger check than they have to.
But before you sign that contract, sit with a tougher question for a minute: what is your website doing for you right now? Not what it costs — what it actually produces. If a good chunk of your leads and closings trace back to it, the sticker price of a new platform isn't the number that matters most.
Websites build up something over time that doesn't show up on an invoice — search rankings, indexed pages, backlinks, years of local content. Marketers call it SEO equity. Treat it like any other asset your brokerage owns, because that's exactly what it is. It took years to earn, and it can take weeks to lose.
Migrations are usually where it gets lost. A redirect gets skipped here, a URL structure changes there, and pages that had been ranking for years just vanish from Google's index. This rarely shows up as a slow fade. It tends to show up fast — a real drop in organic search traffic within a month of a new site going live.
A few numbers worth knowing for your own brokerage:
Organic search often drives somewhere between 40% and 60% of total site traffic for a brokerage that's been around a while
Those organic visitors convert to leads at a rate you can actually measure
Leads become transactions, transactions become closed volume, and closed volume becomes company dollars
If a cheaper platform interrupts any part of that chain, you haven't saved money — you've just relocated the cost. And it usually shows up on the revenue side, where the numbers are bigger.
Comparing two providers on monthly fee alone doesn't tell you much — it's a bit like hiring based on salary and never asking what the person actually gets done. A fairer comparison looks at things like:
What your current site is contributing right now: leads, transactions, closed volume
How much thought the new provider actually puts into technical migration — redirect mapping, canonical URLs, handing off Search Console, keeping your indexed content intact
What happens to your rankings and traffic in the real world, in the first 30, 60, and 90 days after launch
Forget asking how much you'll save. Ask this instead: "What's your plan for protecting everything we've built once you move us over?" A provider who takes that question seriously will have a real answer — redirects mapped out, indexing double-checked, traffic watched closely after launch. Vague reassurance usually means your website is just another line item to them, not the revenue asset it actually is.
That's the lens Delta Media Group brings to every migration. Thirty-plus years of building real estate websites, SEO strategy, and CRM systems for brokerages, teams, and agents means search visibility isn't an afterthought — it's part of the plan from day one.
A cheaper website is only cheaper once you know what your current one is worth. Get the real numbers first — traffic, leads, transactions — before you decide what "savings" actually means for your business. Take a closer look at Delta Media Group.
