Betty Wroe, an agent with Coldwell Banker Elevated in Cedar Falls, Iowa, has been using Delta Media Group® technology since she first got her real estate license and joined the brokerage. This partnership helped her rapidly rise to a high level, enhancing her talent for connecting with people.
This year, Betty was nominated in the top five for Cedar Valley's "Best of the Best" in real estate. Considering this was out of over 700 agents, it is a huge accomplishment.
"All of the recognition means so very much to me, because I just consider myself, I really am just a small-town girl," Betty says. "I grew up on a small acreage. It means the world to me, but it's still like I am a small-town girl."
Although she wasn't an agent until about six years ago, real estate was something Betty has been passionate about since she was a little kid.Â
"This is something that started back when I was a young girl, so I just always took in and paid attention to surrounding homes and what was constantly going on with them, and keeping tabs of selling and buying, and it's just something that followed me through my adulthood," she explains.
It was after she and her husband purchased and sold a few properties that Betty realized real estate was something she wanted to pursue as a career.Â
"My husband and I had purchased, sold, and moved quite a few times, and we personally had some amazing interactions with different agents throughout that time," she says. "It was then that it really started to sink in when looking at my future as to whether this is something that I have brought from my childhood that I should really jump into, so I could be that person to make such a huge impact on people."
A Website That Generates Leads
One of Betty's favorite features of her Delta Media Group website is the ability to connect with leads. She finds it extremely valuable to have a way for customers to send their information through the website, and then she can easily contact them through the back end.
"I really like the lead engine," she notes. "The website is very user-friendly, and people go to my website and send in their information. That way I can reach them, contact them back, and that is really, really useful."
Betty likes how simple it is for her clients to search for properties based on categories on her website and find information on upcoming open houses as well.
"I have my website set up where it has different categories that clients can search for, whether it's residential or commercial, or if they want to look at what open houses there are," she explains. "The open house feature is definitely another big asset to the website where they can specifically search for those."

Standing Out By Staying True to Herself
Betty believes that staying true to herself has been what has made her stand out among the other agents in her market area. This includes always staying visible and communicating with others.
"It's staying true to yourself," she says, "I know a lot of people throughout my years here, so I know a lot of people, and just staying visible is really very important. Staying visible and communicating and talking to people."
Betty takes every opportunity she has to get in front of people and talk about real estate. She finds that listening closely during these conversations helps her to identify subjects to post about on her social media. She frequently uses her Facebook and Instagram pages to provide advice, share new listings, celebrate when she has sold a home, and more.
"I've had some really good conversations, and maybe it's interest levels or things to do to prepare to purchase a home, but really listening to the people," says Betty. "Then that helps me determine what information I'm putting out there with my marketing. Anybody can post random stuff out there, but really it's information that they need and want to hear."
When coming up with content to post on her social media, Betty also takes into account the questions people ask her.
"I had somebody reach out to me the other day just to ask me what color they should paint their door," she recalls. "I have no idea if I'm listing a house or not for them, but they really take that information in and want to know that information, so that determines what I will post on my social media along with, 'Hey, I have this new listing,' or maybe I just sold that listing because people are always watching, so it's important."
Meeting New People Through Providing Sponsorships and VolunteeringÂ
Another way Betty makes herself visible is by volunteering her time to serve community organizations, such as the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. It's just one of the many ways she gives back to the community that has helped her realize success in her real estate business.
"I volunteer at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, and I really like to help others, so I think that's really recognized by everybody," she says. "There are so many things that we can help others with, and that just comes from deep within, all different lifestyles and people need to help. And by doing that, someday some of their family members realize that you're out there to help people and you are being genuine to yourself."
Betty also sponsored and volunteered with the Cedar Valley Youth Sports Association. She had a great time being with the kids and seeing how happy they were and felt that her presence was appreciated by the community.
"I also volunteered and sponsored with the Cedar Valley Youth Sports Association this year, which was amazing just to be around all the kids and see their excitement for the ball games," she says. "I sponsored a specific team and just being a part of that, many people came to me directly and thanked me for sponsoring and really taking the time to sponsor these kids, and the kids were so very happy to have that. We had an end-of-the-year party and just having all that excitement, it was great. People recognize you for being there too."
Additionally, Betty is involved in stock car racing. She says, "I stay active with stock car racing during the summer months, and I sponsor a car there. Interacting with the racing family has been very dear to my heart for many years now."
Betty is keeping busy this holiday season. She will be attending events through the Sports Association as well as some other gatherings and Christmas parties where she'll be inviting clients she's worked with throughout the year. She will also be raising donations for the Salvation Army. What Betty looks forward to the most each year is packing meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas at the food bank.
"In November, that's a great event that I help with if they have a big holiday meal," she says. "That's their largest event and it serves for their Thanksgiving and Christmas meal. It's loading the groceries and everything, the meal ingredients, all into the vehicles or loading them into the bags."

Keeping Up With Technology With the Help of Her Family
Betty believes that if you want to succeed in real estate, you have to keep up with how the world is changing through technology. "You have to constantly be learning how the world is changing and stay up on that," she says.
She attributes her comfort with using technology to the training sessions in her office as well as learning from her children and grandchildren. She says that they know a lot about the new and improved technology and are always willing to talk about it with her and teach her.
Furthering Her Reach in the Future
Although Betty may be a small-town girl at heart, by utilizing the technology and other resources she has available to her, she is staying visible both online and within the Cedar Valley community. There's no doubt that she will accomplish more great things and reach many more people as her career in real estate progresses.
