2021 saw a massive influx of new real estate technology. Technology was essential to keep the industry as a whole moving while ensuring safety for customers and agents alike. Now, things may be going back to "normal" — but the relationship between agents and technology has changed forever.

Even as more and more people request face-to-face home tours, for example, demand is still strong for virtual tours. Up and down the list of what real estate agents do every day, you'll find a strong need for creative thinking and innovation. Much of that comes through new tools and technology.

As agents and brokers look ahead to 2023, one of the tasks before them is to define "the new normal."

Real estate is about relationships, and many agents are enjoying the opportunity to spend more time in the same space with their clients. Yet, it's important not to put aside your technology skills — even those that don't lie within your comfort zone. Times move forward, but technology is definitely here to stay.

Let's look at five of the biggest reasons why:

Real Estate Isn't Getting Any Less Complex

What is technology really all about? When it comes down to it, all technology has a single goal: To save labor. That's crucial in real estate, where many newcomers to the field are convinced they need to burn the candle at both ends to succeed. Eventually, they have to pivot to greater efficiency – or burn out.

Real estate is getting more complicated, but there aren't any more hours in the day. There are only two reliable ways to end up with a net gain of time to work with: Hire a team or get new, better technology tools. With the right tech, one person can do the work of ten and reap the rewards accordingly.

Technology Helps You Meet Different Needs

Some technology is undeniably an improvement. A real estate CRM is better than a stuffed filing cabinet or a bunch of Post-It notes. You may be used to the latter, but you'll save time and money by embracing the former. On the other hand, sometimes technology takes a more complementary role.

Lots of real estate agents swear by conventional open houses, for instance. But that client who lives a hundred miles away isn't coming to your open house, no matter how well you promote it. They need your virtual tour, or else your listing is invisible to them. In situations like this, technology fills the gaps.

Good Technology Is Getting More Accessible

Operating a good piece of real estate technology isn't like learning to program a computer. You aren't building something from scratch. Instead, you can follow a series of workflows based on how you get things done. That's the thought process behind the DeltaNET.

In our recent updates to DeltaNET, we introduced the "role-based system." This system means you can focus on the DeltaNET features that are most meaningful to you, without the clutter of features you do not use. This ensures you can learn quickly and start getting value from the suite right away.

Modern Technology Is Simple and Cost-Effective

Odds are good you're already using technology to empower your business. But unless you've selected a single AI-driven "center of excellence" for your real estate practice, you're probably dealing with a lot of unnecessary complication. Almost inevitably, that leads to more costs.

When you have a "technology stack" of six or eight or ten different apps driving your workday, it is only a matter of time before they don't play with each other. Using DeltaNET, you can eliminate many of the apps you're using today and spend more time focused on what's really important.

Technology Means You Can Reach More People

Real estate agents know they should be building relationships through email marketing and social media. In a world where nearly 100% of clients start their home search online, these tasks are truly inseparable from good technology. But many haven't taken the next step: Automation.

In real estate, you have unique online influence. You can turn your following into a real business asset. But it will take much longer if you treat every post and email like an artisan handicraft. Technology is at your service, expanding the number of people you can reach from dozens to hundreds to thousands.

No Matter What's Next, Technology Is the Key

A few years ago, virtually everyone in the industry would have scoffed at the idea someone would buy a house "sight unseen." In 2021 alone, it happened thousands of times from coast to coast. You just can't predict the future — but whatever it is, technology will be indispensable to turning it to your advantage.
