Making their mark on the Main Line, Duffy Real Estate is a mid-sized, family-owned firm looking to stay local as they continue to serve buyers, sellers, and renters throughout the Philadelphia metro area.
John Duffy first entered the real estate business as a home-builder when the rates for mortgages and construction loans soared. After discovering that this business was where he was meant to be, he got his broker's license. In 1978, he opened a single, one-man real estate office in the town of Narberth, Pennsylvania, right next to the local movie theater. This marked the very beginning of Duffy Real Estate.
Today the Narbeth office resides just around the corner from its original location. Duffy Real Estate also has a second office located in St. Davids. With two conveniently located offices in the Main Line of Philadelphia, Duffy Real Estate assists residential and commercial buyers, sellers, and renters throughout the entire Philadelphia metro area.Â
Doing what he does best, B. John Duffy is still serving his community as the President of Duffy Real Estate. His son, John S. Duffy, is currently the firm's Associate Broker, working alongside his father, mother, and brother.
Although they have seen substantial growth over the nearly 45 years they have been in business, Duffy Real Estate is committed to remaining local and independent so they can continue to provide the most personalized service possible for their clients.

A Standard of Personalization
As an independently-owned firm with about 30 agents, Duffy Real Estate considers themselves a mid-sized brokerage. Staying this size gives them the ability to offer a more personalized and higher level of service for their clients, while still fulfilling all their real estate needs. Being a locally-based company, they can also play a more active role in their community and truly get to know people in the areas they serve.
John S. Duffy says, "We're based locally. Because of this, we focus on serving our clients rather than competing for market share. Also, we're active members of the community and we're very selective of the agents we bring in. That way, we maintain a high level of service for our clients."
The team at Duffy Real Estate also feels that remaining mid-sized means more flexibility in the business relationships they make, such as who they choose as their technology provider. Duffy Real Estate has found that Delta Media Group® has made a huge impact on the success of their company by offering them marketing tools that are specific to the needs of each agent and listing. Another mid-sized, independently-owned company, Delta Media Group shares the same standard of providing personalized service and support.
"Being mid-sized gives us more flexibility in the long run in ways that larger companies can't," says John S. Duffy. "We can choose our vendors and tailor our marketing plans specific to our agents and our listings. If it weren't for us being mid-sized, I don't think we'd have the choice to use a company like Delta. So it's helped us out in the long run, big time."
Finding the Right Fit and Offering Real-World Experience
Many of the new hires at Duffy Real Estate are recruited by their current agents. Being highly selective when it comes to who they add to their team, they have a few key qualities that they look for in prospective agents.
"We are very selective, and I think it's mainly just finding the right fit: Somebody who's hard-working, someone who's trustworthy," says John S. Duffy. "We found that many of our new hires are recruited by agents that work for us. I feel like that's a testament to the environment we have at Duffy and the team environment that we have in place."
Duffy Real Estate does offer traditional classroom training for new agents. However, they believe that the best way for them to learn the ropes is on the job. So, as they are training, they encourage them to get out in the field and work alongside their fellow agents. They also teach them to use the marketing and lead generation tools they have available in DeltaNET® to jumpstart their business and continue to grow it.
"Besides just the classroom training offered, we find it most effective for new agents to get as much real-world experience as possible," says John S. Duffy. "Every deal is different, and we find the most valuable experience comes in the field and from brainstorming with other agents in the office. It's always nice knowing that Delta's back office has options for our agents to help better their business practices and help them to grow."

A Collaborative Company Culture
The teamwork at Duffy Real Estate doesn't end after new agents are onboarded. Their offices are collaborative places where agents are free to ask questions and discuss new ideas with one another. Aside from collaboration within the company, Duffy Real Estate endorses partnering with outside vendors, like Delta Media Group, to help fill in the gaps.
"We're very hands-on," says John S. Duffy. "We encourage brainstorming as much as possible. It's a very open environment in our office, so questions are asked freely and people bounce questions off each other, which is nice. We have a wonderful network of clients, contractors, and vendors as well that we've developed over the past 45 years, including Delta. This has been extremely valuable for our agents and our company. It's been a nice asset for us."
Another benefit that they feel staying mid-sized offers them at Duffy Real Estate is the ability to lean on each other for support. Knowing that both the leadership and their fellow agents are there to support them when needed allows them to take time off and have the peace of mind that everything is taken care of while they're gone.
"We've found that through the past couple of years, it's been tricky just given that we had COVID, we had a couple of years of crazy times," says John S. Duffy. "We find that downtime for agents is key. We're always there to support agents, so if they need to take time off, we're always there for them and we have each other's backs. I feel like in a mid-size company, you have that more so than a larger corporate company does."
Staying Organized and Efficient With Delta Marketing Technology
Having worked together for about 15 years, Duffy Real Estate is a long-standing partner of Delta Media Group. Although they have other tools available for their agents to use, Duffy Real Estate finds that DeltaNET offers them the most efficiency with a full set of tools available in one, easy-to-navigate platform. Additionally, they find that the resources Delta provides them with are the most helpful in reaching their goals.
"We have a lot of other tools that we use, but we find that Delta's back office is probably the most efficient, and offers a full set of tools for us," says John S. Duffy. "As far as the CRM goes, individual property websites and just being able to manage the leads, we find that Delta's resources are probably the most helpful."
Along with being satisfied with the marketing and lead generation tools they have access to, at Duffy Real Estate, it doesn't go unnoticed how reliable Delta's customer service is. Their agents and staff appreciate the fact that they can reach out at any time with a question or concern and receive support right away. Being a brokerage that believes in the power of personal connection, having consistent support is extremely important to them.Â
"Delta has always been reliable and quick to react if you have questions or anything is needed," says John S. Duffy. "They've been great at adapting with the ever-changing world that we live in, and we feel that we can reach out to them at a moment's notice. They're always quick to get back to us, and they have been keeping up with the times, they've been evolving with the real estate market and with technology in general."

Connection is Key
As a local, independent firm that aims to stay connected, the past few years have been difficult for Duffy Real Estate considering the lack of opportunity for in-person interaction. Since the start of the pandemic, like many other organizations, they have been longing for more chances to come together. This spring, they are planning to hold a number of company-wide events to make up for lost time now that things have started to settle down.
"This year we're most excited for more in-person events," says John S. Duffy. "That's something that's been lacking over the last couple of years. It's been strange over the last few years, obviously with COVID then last year, it was just so crazy with the market in general. This year, I think that we're looking forward to more of a normal pace, seeing each other more in person, more company get-togethers, and more brainstorming sessions."
By both living in and engaging with the communities they serve and providing a personal connection for their agents and clients, the team at Duffy Real Estate has earned their spot as one of the most trusted real estate firms in the Main Line of Philadelphia. They know that coming together and supporting one another makes a huge difference in life and business.
As a partner of Delta Media Group, a technology provider that understands their needs and their values as an independent firm, Duffy Real Estate can continue connecting with their customers knowing they are staying innovative and keeping up with the times.
